SEO Tools that got a mention at SES 2009
Here’s a quick list of a few tools that got a mention during the sessions from day 3 of Search Engine Strategies 2009.
In the Duplicate Content session, Google’s Webmaster Tools unsurprisingly got one or two mentions. The Content Analysis section allows you to check for duplicate page titles and meta description issues, the robots.txt checker got a mention as a nice easy way to test your robots.txt file before going live with it. There are also plenty of other tools in GWT that can help you monitor your site and check for web crawl errors, so it’s a definite must.
In a PPC session, Crazy Egg heatmaps allows you to visualize what actions people take on your site. This let’s you see what works and what doesn’t, and what changes you should make to improve your site. Another similar product is Clicktale that allows you to see “your visitors’ browsing sessions to analyze their behavior”. I think the first 10,000 or so hits are free with Crazy Egg.
UserTesting offers low cost user testing. For $19 this looks interesting. You watch and listen to your demographic use and react to your site. Might just take this one out for a spin, it might be an eye opener.
In the search engine Reputation Management session, Google Alerts got a couple of seconds and Andy Beal’s online reputation management tool Trackur was also referred too. Trackur comes in different sizes and TrackUR individual allows you to monitor your own personal brand online.
Finally In Beyond LinkBait Majesticseo , hubfinder and linkscape got a mention as well as Yahoo Site Explorer.
No doubt I’ve missed one or two. Anyone got any personal feedback, opinions on these tools?
